Mettur is an Assembly constituency in the Salem district, in the North region of Tamil Nadu.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Mettur was won by Semmalai S of AIADMK.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Parthiban S.R. of DMDK.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Semmalai S garnered 72751 votes, securing over 35.05 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 6282 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 3.03 percent.

The constituency polled 207673 votes in the 2016 Tamil Nadu assembly polls with a voter turnout of 78.91 percent.

The Mettur constituency has a literacy level of 73.23 percent.

A total of 25 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
