In the 2016 Assembly elections, Nettapakkam was won by Vizeaveny, V. of INC.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by L. Periyasamy of ADMK.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Vizeaveny, V. garnered 10577 votes, securing over 38.96 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 1468 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 5.41 percent.

The constituency polled 27171 votes in the 2016 Puducherry assembly polls with a voter turnout of 88.61 percent.

The Nettapakkam constituency has a literacy level of 85.44 percent.
