Payyannur is an Assembly constituency in the Kannur district, in the Malabar region of Kerala.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Payyannur was won by C Krishnan of CPM.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by C.Krishnan of CPM.

In the 2016 assembly polls, C Krishnan garnered 83226 votes, securing over 58.02 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 40263 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 28.07 percent.

The constituency polled 143482 votes in the 2016 Kerala assembly polls with a voter turnout of 81.79 percent.

The Payyannur constituency has a literacy level of 95.41 percent.
