Sagar is an Assembly constituency in the South 24 Parganas district, in the South East Bengal region of West Bengal.

The Sagar constituency went to polls on April 1, 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Sagar was won by Bankim Chandra Hazra of CPIM.

Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Bankim Chandra Hazra of TMC.

In the 2016 assembly polls, Bankim Chandra Hazra garnered 112812 votes, securing over 51.79 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 18071 votes.

In percentage terms, the victory margin was 8.3 percent.

The constituency polled 217918 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 89.66 percent.

The Sagar constituency has a literacy level of 78.57 percent.

A total of 7 candidates stood in the 2016 elections.
