Tarakeswar is an Assembly constituency in the Hooghly district, in the South West Bengal region of West Bengal. TMC's Ramendu Sinharay has defeated BJP spokesperson Swapan Dasgupta in the assembly election 2021.

In the 2016 Assembly elections, Tarakeswar was won by Rachhpal Singh of CPIM.
Before that, in the 2011 elections, the seat was held by Rachhpal Singh of TMC.
In the 2016 assembly polls, Rachhpal Singh garnered 97588 votes, securing over 50.75 percent of the vote share, and winning the seat by a margin of 27690 votes.
In percentage terms, the victory margin was 14.4 percent.
The constituency polled 192351 votes in the 2016 West Bengal assembly polls with a voter turnout of 86.66 percent.
The Tarakeswar constituency has a literacy level of 82.55 percent.
