'Washed out Budget session is the reason for no productivity'

The penultimate day of Budget Session 2018 was also a wash out-making this one of the least productive sessions in a decade. According to legislative research firm PRS, the Lok Sabha clocked only 22% productivity. While the upper house managed only 33% productivity.

This is in sharp contrast to last Budget Session when the lower house's productivity was at 108% and Rajya Sabha achieved 86%productivity.

Crucial bills like fugitive Economic Offenders Bill. The Negotiable instruments bill and consumer protection bill failed to see the light of the day. It is estimated that the disruptions cost the country Rs 190 crore.
