April 24 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened

muted on Friday, as investors drew comfort from signs that

U.S.-Iran negotiations could resume, but the optimism was offset

by declines in the energy sector.

At 09:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's

S&P/TSX composite index was flat at 33,922.57.
