02:10 PM EDT, 03/12/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Southwest Airlines ( LUV ) said Tuesday it cut its Q1 guidance after Boeing (BA) advised the budget carrier it would be delivering fewer aircraft in 2024.
Southwest ( LUV ) stock slumped 14% with intraday volume topping 28.3 million shares versus the daily average of 7.84 million.
Boeing shares dropped 4.1% amid concern the safety concerns triggered in January by the mid-air door panel blowout of an Alaska Airlines (ALK) jetliner continues to weigh on the aircraft maker's production.
More than 14 million shares traded intraday, compared with the daily average of 9.66 million.
American Airlines Group ( AAL ) lowered its Q1 financial forecast due to fuel prices rising "considerably" since it first issued guidance in late January.
Shares slumped 5% with volume topping 35.8 million versus the daily average of 34.7 million.
