Boeing ( BA ) reported a Q3 core loss Wednesday of $7.47 per share, narrowing from a loss of $10.44 a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $5.16.
Total revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 was $23.27 billion, compared with $17.84 billion a year earlier.
Boeing ( BA ) said the core EPS loss primarily reflects "a pre-tax earnings charge of $4.9 billion on the 777x program, which increased the loss per share by $6.45." The company said it updated its assessment of the 777-9 certification timeline during the quarter and now expects the first delivery to take place in 2027.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected $22.06 billion.
Boeing's ( BA ) stock was 1% lower in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
